May it be a great month of Elul for everyone.
And maybe now more than ever, we need to be blessed with a great, successful, productive and healthy month. (Elul and upcoming new year)

It has indeed been a traumatic and difficult period of about 6 months, from around Purim time, due to the crippling worldwide pandemic of Corona.
As believing Jews, there must be some G-dly message behind the Corona, for Am Yisrael and for the world, but sadly, we don’t have true prophets and the Beit HaMikdash for exact guidance. And so we will have to “make-do” with wise words and messages from our great Rabbis and other spiritual leaders.

We have all been affected in some way – with our families, with our work, our religious activities and with life in general, being turned on its head.
That’s the reality.

In a few weeks time, we will be saying these following words – Tefilla, Tzeddakah and Teshuva (Prayer, Charity and Repentance) will overturn the evil decree.

Yes – we all have, in what to improve : In our relationships with our wives, our children, parents, work associates, friends, strangers and of course with Hashem.
Have we done enough for Am Yisreal, Eretz Yisrael and Torat Yisrael?
Have we given enough Tzeddakah for our brethren in Israel?
Have we been maybe too focussed on gaining wealth and on our own “self and personal satisfaction”, without maybe thinking enough of the other or HaShem?
Have we acted truly with the blessings that G-d has blessed us with during the year?

These are questions that we should be asking ourselves in this month of Elul, leading up to Rosh Hashanah.

Every year before Rosh Hashanah, we (Ateret Cohanim) send out a letter or email and we appeal to each and every past and present donor, to send some “last minute” charity- Tzeddakah before the New Year, to Ateret Cohanim.(AFAC)

This year, my pre Rosh Hashanah message and appeal – is a little different, for 2 reasons…..

1/ We are ALL hurting and maybe some of us are feeling the financial pinch. Some have been hit directly by Corona. Some indirectly. Some may be ok and maybe even “succeeded” for whatever reason. G-d works in mysterious ways. But this Elul and Tishrei is like no other.

2/ This year, i’m not going to mention any specific funding needs for any project.
No security, renovation or urgent kids project. No financial needs for our nurseries and playcentres. No adopting families. No Yemenite shul restoration project.
Not even investments via Ateret Cohanim Israel (Even though there are some important ones on the table)
No plaques and no public recognition.

This year, I’m asking for PURE TZEDDAKAH – CHARITY- DONATION in this pre Rosh HaShanah period, for some of our Jerusalem families at the forefront themselves, and for Ateret Cohanim staff in need.
Yes – the Corona fallout is everywhere, including in the heart of Jerusalem.
It’s the vital Jerusalem Machine itself that needs oiling !!!!

I know that every single person appreciates and applauds the endeavours of Ateret Cohanim, and salutes our pioneering families at the forefront fighting the “7th day war”.
So please consider making even a small donation for THIS SPECIFIC need in this Elul-pre Rosh HaShanah appeal-request !!

This message goes out to approximately 20,000 recipients on our mailing lists.

Imagine if every single family- person gave only $10 – that translates to $200,000, for keeping Jerusalem in Jewish hands and for Ateret Cohanim.
Imagine if every family-person gave just “double chai” – $36 each – that’s $720,000.
Imagine if every family-person on our lists gave $100 each – that’s $2,000,000 for Yerushalayim and Ateret Cohanim !!

Sadly – recent history has shown that the majority of people on our list do not always respond (So yes we need some larger generous donations)….but imagine if everyone DID ACT & RESPOND in a small positive sense, and if this year would be different with EVERY SINGLE PERSON GIVING SOMETHING.

So please play your “role” and if at all financially possible, make your pre Rosh Hashanah Jerusalem donation with a smile !!!!

I would also like to publicly say TODA RABA MEHALEV (Thanks from the heart) to all those who answered my/our calls during the year, and who partnered us, in so many wonderful and successful projects. (Including reclamation and investment work via Ateret Cohanim Israel)
Our families in the Old City thank you. Our families from Kfar HaTeimanim, Kidmat Zion and Maaleh HaZeitim thank you.
Our Yeshiva students thank you.
Our kids from the playcentre and nurseries thank you.
