The Jerusalem Revolution Is Happening In The Shiloach

While the war continues in Gaza a silent revolution is occurring in the Shiloach neighborhood of Jerusalem. Jerusalem has always been front and center of the broader conflict between the Jewish nation and the enemies which surround it. Now something truly amazing is happening in the secluded neighborhood of the Shiloach (aka Silwan). This neighborhood is also called the Old Yemenite Village after the Yemenite Jewish village that resided there from 1882 to 1938.

The Old Yemenite Village was and is still managed by a sanctified trust, which essentially means that the entity that was established in the 1880s still has legal authority over the property. Due to this, there have been a number of court cases with rulings requiring the squatting Arab family to leave. Most recently two apartments opened due to a court ruling, which subsequently saw the Arab squatters inside burn down the apartments on their way out.

After two months of work with the help of Ateret Cohanim, two new families moved into the renovated places.

Since 2004 when the first Jewish family moved back into the Shiloach right next to the Yemenite Beit Knesset, the neighborhood has seen steady growth. Now numbering more than 44 families, there is hope the population can continue to grow as more and more squatters are removed and places handed back to the sanctified trust.

Unfortunately, the more Jews move back to the Shiloach, the more the Arab violence rises against this change. These Arabs are violent to Jews and Arabs alike and are funded by European donors and Turkish money. Thankfully, the brave Jewish pioneers have their faith and the support of the Border Police and Israel’s Police Force in combatting Arab violence.

The families that live in the Old Yemenite Village in the Shiloach know their mission is to be on the the frontlines of the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Every house that is returned to Jewish hands is another step in the total Redemption of Jerusalem. This is the Jerusalem Revolution.
